Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; attested certificate required.
• Minimum 3 years of general underwriting experience; attested experience certificate preferred.
• Insurance brokerage or insurer underwriting department experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of underwriting principles across multiple lines, including property, casualty, marine or motor.
• Familiarity with risk assessment, policy wording and pricing methodologies.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to negotiate and build relationships with clients, brokers and insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite applications across property, casualty, motor and liability lines.
• Analyze risk exposures and documentation to determine underwriting decisions and premium rates.
• Negotiate terms with insurers, clarify risk details and align placements with policy requirements.
• Ensure underwriting follows internal guidelines, regulations and industry best practices.
• Keep current on insurance products, market trends and competitors.
• Support claims teams with complex or disputed claims affected by underwriting decisions.
• Maintain relationships with insurers, clients, brokers and internal teams.
• Identify and communicate emerging risks and trends.
• Monitor underwriting, internal policy, regulatory and AML compliance.
• Conduct KYC due diligence to verify client identities and detect financial crime risks.
