About the role
We're building a new fiber optics training institute that takes people from zero to job-ready last-mile (FTTH/FTTX) installation technicians.
We're looking for a senior fiber deployment professional to own and design the training program — someone who has actually built FTTH networks at scale and knows exactly what makes a technician productive on a live rollout.
This is a foundational, program-shaping role.
You won't be a full-time classroom instructor; you'll define what gets taught, set the competency standards, and make sure graduates can perform on real deployments from day one.
What you'll do
- Design a structured, full-time curriculum taking complete beginners to certified, job-ready FTTH/FTTX technicians
- Define the real-world skills, productivity benchmarks, and quality standards graduates must meet
- Align the program to recognized certification standards (FOA CFOT/CFOS or equivalent)
- Specify the practical lab: workstation layout, equipment, consumables, and hands-on exercises
- Build assessments, competency benchmarks, and evaluation methods
- Advise on hiring and onboarding the wider training team as the institute scales
- What we're looking for
- Substantial experience in FTTH/FTTX network deployment or rollout management (OSP/ISP, GPON), ideally on large-scale projects
- Deep practical understanding of what last-mile field crews actually do and where new technicians fail
- Strong knowledge of single-mode standards (ITU G.652/G.657), GPON architecture, OSP/ISP cabling, and test/acceptance procedures
- Experience defining standards, processes, or training for deployment teams
- Ability to translate field reality into a structured learning program
- Nice to have
- Background with a major operator or vendor FTTH rollout (e.g. operator fixed-access, or Nokia/Huawei/ZTE deployment)
- FOA certification or instructor eligibility
- Experience setting up a training facility or academy
- English/Arabic bilingual capability
- Experience building curriculum or training materials from scratch
- What we offer
- A foundational role with real ownership over a new institute's program
- Relocation support
- Competitive package
- Pay: AED12,000.00 - AED25,000.00 per month
Application Question(s)
- What is the largest FTTH/FTTX deployment you've worked on, in home passes, and what was your role?
