Position overview

Evidence and investigation duties

• Search scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and photograph scenes, collisions, suspects, and evidence.
• Develop and compare fingerprints; collect and assess physical and trace evidence and refer samples for laboratory analysis.
• Process search-warrant evidence, create diagrams, and photograph, videotape, and document collected items.
• Maintain evidence records, inventories, storage, and chain of custody; prepare courtroom exhibits and discovery materials.
• Prepare detailed reports, consult with attorneys, and testify in court about collected evidence.
• Attend post-mortem examinations and collect fingerprints, samples, and other evidence.
• May train or provide direction to less-experienced technicians and research forensic techniques and equipment.

Preferred experience and qualifications

• Forensic experience and certificates related to forensics are sought, including Crime Scene Photography and Fingerprint Techniques.
• One year of evidence receiving, cataloging, and custody experience in a County District Attorney's Office or law office agency is preferred.
