QUALIFICATIONS
- Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
- Driver safety.
- First aid.
- Ability to:
- Learn the operation of fire suppression and other emergency equipment.
- Learn to apply standard firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials and fire prevention techniques.
- Perform strenuous or peak physical activities during emergencies, training or station maintenance activities for prolonged periods of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat, cold or smoke.
- Act effectively in emergencies and stressful situations.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
- Establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the general public.
- Make independent judgments that have considerable impacts on the organization.
- Registered Massachusetts EMT-Paramedic.
- Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
- Ability to pass rigorous Physical Agility Test; fitness, medical exams; and background investigation.
- Must be physically able to lift and/or move up to 125 pounds and able to drag 175 pounds.
- 15-mile residency requirement within one (1) year of hire.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma, some college is preferred.
