Role Description

The fire safety manager/Eng is a technical role and will work with an external engineering company and systems maintenance contractors. Maintain an updated copy of the safety and fire protection plans and buildings fire systems risk assessment prepared by an engineering office. Allocate a record called ‘The authority’s safety record’ in paper or electronic form, in which all periodical inspections and maintenance operations for safety and fire-fighting equipment are recorded in terms of the 1). Inspection date. 2). The authority carrying out the works. 3). Repairs and other data. 4). Recording all works carried out. For emergency scenarios and training programs. The document is to be available to Civil Defence at all times. The Fire Safety Manager/Eng shall inform Civil Defence of the dates for fire safety systems PPM to explore Civil Defence inspector presence. The Manager is legally accountable for defects, violations or lack of readiness, unless Civil Defence are informed in writing and all available measure were taken to correct them. implement safety, prevention and fire protection requirements with systems and people in accordance with regulatory requirements. The Fire Safety Manager/Eng shall obtain and retain the buildings/offices evacuation and safety plans and Eng approvals. The fire safety manager/Eng shall undertake a minimum of 15 hours fire systems maintenance training annually by accredited organization. Perform inspection and maintenance work on safety systems in conjunction with administration contracted maintenance teams and adhering to the engineering risk assessment and consultant requirements; such as assessing maintenance and operations for the fire pump room systems, fire alarm systems and detectors, ASS systems, FACPs, fire drawings for escape routes, extinguishers and detectors, FACPs, PFE, clean gaseous fire suppression systems, UPS room safety, electrical room safety.

Responsibilities

Provide Civil Defence with periodic (semi-annual) inspection and follow-up reports on prevention and protection systems in the sites and building comparing the engineering risk assessment, maintenance and regulatory requirements.

Conduct daily and periodic inspections according to the prepared safety plan to examine fire prevention and protection systems such as alarms, extinguishing, smoke control, fire extinguishers, hose reels, valves, nozzles, fire hydrants and their constant readiness, and ensuring the pressures in the water pipes of the firefighting systems and the validity of emergency exits around the clock, and preparing daily reports that include all observations and the measures taken.

Follow up on maintenance work for manual and automatic fire and alarm systems.

In the event of any construction work, whether it be restoration, modification or addition, it shall be ensured that safety requirements are met at the work site and that workers adhere to safety and fire protection procedures.

Address any violation, danger, or malfunction in alarm, fire suppression, or smoke control systems, or escalating it to senior management and Civil Defence – urgently – if it cannot be addressed and followed up on.

Qualifications

NEBOSH/NFPA/OSHA fire safety prevention/protection or Eng qualification or qualified with SBC 201 and 801.

Member of Saudi Council of Engineers.

Experience in field work for safety, prevention and fire prevention for 3 or more years.

Fire safety trainer.

NEBOSH/FFPA/OSHA in fire safety and prevention or 3 years field work and SBC 201 & 801 are mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

Trainer.

NEBOSH management in HSE and fire safety.
