- In addition, this role requires the following minimum qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire safety or emergency management, preferably in hospitality or facilities management
- In-depth knowledge of fire safety regulations and emergency response protocols
- Strong leadership and training facilitation skills
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
- Experience coordinating with regulatory bodies and internal departments
- Proficiency in safety management systems and fire safety equipment maintenance
- Certification in fire safety management from a recognized authority (e.g., NEBOSH, NFPA).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:
- Fire Safety Planning & Compliance: Develop and maintain fire safety and emergency response plans in line with local and national regulations; ensure all fire safety systems are regularly inspected and operational.
- Training & Staff Development: Conduct fire drills and provide ongoing training to staff on fire prevention, emergency procedures, and equipment usage.
- Risk Assessment & Incident Investigation: Perform regular fire hazard assessments, implement corrective actions, and investigate incidents to improve safety protocols.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, housekeeping, and security teams to integrate fire safety across hotel operations.
- External Liaison: Work with fire authorities and inspectors to ensure compliance and readiness for audits.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Monitor adherence to fire safety and health regulations; update policies as needed.
- Emergency Response Leadership: Lead evacuation procedures during fire emergencies and oversee fire safety equipment maintenance.
