Role overview
The Finance Analyst — Operations joins the Finance Team and works closely with Operations.
This is an analytical role focused on understanding restaurant performance and identifying opportunities to increase revenue, improve profitability, and reduce costs.
Periodic reporting is handled elsewhere in the Finance team.
Restaurant performance and efficiency
- Analyse restaurant and estate P&L performance, benchmark restaurants, and identify structurally underperforming locations.
- Analyse labour deployment by restaurant, day, and daypart; test rota, labour model, and opening-hours changes with Operations.
- Investigate waste, stock variances, shrinkage, production ordering, gross margin leakage, and COGS opportunities.
- Analyse product, range, and daypart profitability; challenge overheads such as utilities, repairs, packaging, and consumables.
Commercial analysis and partnering
- Build business cases for equipment, process changes, refits, and new restaurants, including payback and return on investment.
- Conduct post-investment reviews and support trading analysis on range, pricing, and promotions.
- Act as finance partner to Operations, bring insight and challenge to performance conversations, and track delivery of agreed opportunities.
- Build relationships across Operations, Property, Purchasing, and Finance.
Candidate requirements
- Experience in commercial or operational finance analysis in restaurants, QSR, food-to-go, hospitality, or multi-site retail; the displayed experience range is incomplete (“to 4 years”).
- Strong understanding of multi-site P&L economics and operational drivers, particularly labour, food cost, and waste.
- Demonstrated analysis leading to a decision or measurable saving, not just a report.
- Advanced Excel; confidence with large EPOS, labour, and stock datasets; ability to use or optimize AI tools.
- Able to communicate findings to non-finance colleagues, challenge constructively, and validate data against source.
- Part or full CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualification, or study toward one, is accepted; Power BI, SQL, or similar tools are listed as additional experience.
