Field Service Engineer role in ABB's Process Automation business, Energy Industries division, based in Bangalore, India.
Performs low- to medium-complexity service tasks and automation engineering for the energy industry.
Responsibilities
- Program, test, install, and commission DCS/PLC automation systems and work on field instrumentation.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution on ABB automation systems used in oil and gas and power plants.
- Execute customer service work according to customer orders and expectations.
- Maintain maintenance checklists and activity lists; prepare maintenance, standard operating, backup, and recovery procedures.
- Identify product, quality, and customer-service improvements and implement them with stakeholders.
Qualifications and experience
- Full-time diploma or graduate engineer in electronics, instrumentation, or electrical specialization.
- 3–5 years of industrial automation experience in oil and gas or power plants.
- Required experience programming, testing, and commissioning DCS or PLC systems, including onsite work.
- Experience installing, commissioning, or maintaining field instruments used in an energy industry.
- Experience on ABB automation platforms such as 800xA, Freelance, Symphony, or AC450/AC460 is preferable.
Workplace and travel
- The role is identified as onsite and involves extensive travel to customer sites in India for service and commissioning activities.
