Facade Designer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed facade shop drawings, sections, elevations, and construction details for glass and aluminium systems.
• Work on curtain wall, cladding, aluminium windows, and structural glazing for high-rise residential projects.
• Develop facade details from tender and design development through construction and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to resolve clashes and technical issues.
• Review facade systems, materials, specifications, and technical submissions for project compliance.
• Coordinate with facade contractors, suppliers, and project teams to support accurate, buildable designs.
• Ensure compliance with UAE building codes, authority requirements, and applicable international standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering, or Architectural Technology.
• Proven facade design and detailing experience on high-rise and super high-rise residential projects in the UAE/GCC.
• Five to ten years of facade design experience; at least three years of UAE/GCC experience is preferred.

Technical knowledge and software

• Strong knowledge of curtain wall systems, aluminium cladding, windows, and structural glazing.
• Familiarity with aluminium extrusion systems, thermal breaks, glass specifications, brackets, anchors, sealants, and fire-stopping details.
• Understanding of wind loads, thermal and acoustic performance, and facade testing requirements.
• Knowledge of the Dubai Building Code, UAE authority requirements, and ASTM, EN, AAMA, and CWCT standards.
• AutoCAD proficiency is required; Revit and other relevant facade design software experience is an advantage.
