This is a full-time, on-site Event Lighting Engineer role based in Zone 39, responsible for lighting systems across a range of events.
The role designs, programs, installs, configures, and operates event lighting and coordinates technical setups with event teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and operate lighting systems for a range of events.
- Develop lighting plans aligned with event concepts.
- Install and configure lighting fixtures and control equipment.
- Conduct pre-event testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with event producers, stage managers, and audiovisual technicians on cohesive technical setups.
- Make real-time adjustments during rehearsals and live events.
- Maintain lighting equipment and adhere to safety standards.
- Support post-event breakdown and inventory management.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in lighting design and lighting for live events, including creating mood, atmosphere, and visual impact.
- Experience with lighting-control systems, including consoles, software, and control networks.
- Proficiency with LED lighting systems, including configuration, addressing, and integration into lighting rigs.
- Knowledge of street or outdoor lighting setups, power distribution, and external-venue safety considerations.
- Previous event production, stagecraft, or technical theater experience, preferably in large-scale or corporate events.
- Ability to read technical drawings, stage plots, and lighting plans and translate them into practical installations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work under time constraints and changing event demands.
- Comfort with manual handling and working at heights when required, and adherence to relevant safety protocols.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional event teams and clients.
- A relevant technical certification or diploma in lighting, electrical, or event technology is preferred; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
