Responsibilities
- Welcome customers with a friendly, professional attitude.
- Accurately scan merchandise and process customer purchases.
- Accept cash, credit/debit cards, gift cards, EBT, and other approved payment methods.
- Count back change accurately and balance your cash drawer.
- Bag groceries carefully while protecting delicate and perishable items.
- Answer customer questions and direct customers to the appropriate department when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area.
- Follow all company cash-handling, security, and loss prevention procedures.
- Verify identification for age-restricted purchases in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
- Assist with returns, exchanges, and price checks following company procedures.
- Work closely with supervisors and fellow associates to keep checkout lines moving efficiently.
- Perform other front-end duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or retail experience is preferred but not required.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash transactions confidently.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.
