Engineering Manager III – Tactical Electronics FPGA Development

Role overview

What you'll do

• Lead the FPGA team and coordinate with the Space-based FPGA Development Team.
• Manage hiring, employee growth, retention, performance, salary reviews, promotions, and recognition.
• Maintain appropriate team processes and tools for program needs and standards compliance.
• Implement AI tools for FPGA engineers and improve adoption of FPGA design and verification reuse IP libraries.
• Resolve critical issues, proactively support programs, and staff programs, IRADs, capital projects, and new-business efforts.
• Align team skills and training with program needs and employee career goals.
• Communicate department information, establish cross-company working relationships, and make adaptable, defensible decisions.
• Identify and fund improvement efforts, manage overhead budget, and align department objectives with corporate strategy.
• Maintain ethical and legally compliant business conduct and a regular, predictable work schedule.

Required education and experience

• BS degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field and 12 or more years of related experience; related technical experience may substitute for education.
• A higher-level degree may substitute for two years of experience; degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capability for engineers developing electronics from proposal through delivery.
• Expertise in VHDL/Verilog and high-speed digital electronics, FPGA, and embedded processor design and implementation.
• Experience with the FPGA lifecycle from concept and architecture through requirements, design, verification, integration, and test.
• Electronic circuit design and electronic systems background; experience estimating specifications, cost, schedule, and resources for digital/FPGA designs.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, issue-closure, interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.

Preferred skills

• SystemVerilog, UVM, AMD/Xilinx tools, and ModelSim/Questa are a plus.
• Familiarity with signal-processing algorithms and DSP techniques is preferred.
• Experience with AI tools and processes for FPGA development, cybersecurity, or space and military work is preferred.

Work environment

• The position requires on-site work three or more days each normally scheduled week, with regular in-person engagement.
• Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required.
• Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment; protective equipment may be required in production areas.

Pay and benefits

• Full-time salary range is $153,377–$260,743 per year; individual salary depends on business and market factors and candidate qualifications.
• The role may be eligible for incentive compensation subject to business performance and management recommendations.
