Summary
Engineer Inspection and Testing is responsible for supporting the Inspection and Testing Department in achieving the strategic objectives of the Quality Management Department, in alignment with organization's overall strategy.
The role includes monitoring and ensuring the effective execution of shift activities related to mechanical testing, inspection of rolling mills and SMP operations, as well as the maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
The Engineer is also responsible for promoting and maintaining Safety and 5S standards within the assigned areas.
Additionally, the Engineer shall follow up on day-to-day operational requirements, identify and resolve ongoing issues, and ensure smooth workflow to meet business objectives.
All activities shall be carried out under the direction of the Manager – Inspection and Testing.
The role also requires initiating and supporting actions that drive continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS).
Manpower Planning & Shift Rota
- Monitor and ensure effective manpower allocation and 24-hour inspection coverage in line with rolling mill requirements
- Oversee laboratory testing activities and ensure timely technical support
- Quality Control – Billets / Rebar / Coils
- Monitor and evaluate product quality in line with ESI specifications and ensure proper SAP release
- Ensure inspection, testing, and final product verification activities are effectively carried out
Problem Solving
- Analyze operational issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Support improvement of inspection and testing techniques and alignment with process requirements
Held Material Management
- Monitor retesting and inspection of held materials and ensure timely disposition and SAP release
- Ensure proper control and compliance of non-conforming products
Documentation & Systems
- Manage development and updating of ISO/IMS procedures and laboratory practices
- Ensure compliance with quality systems (IMS, ISO 17025, internal standards)
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with relevant departments on quality-related matters
- Review and ensure proper reporting of quality issues to support decision-making
Safety, Quality, Health & Environment
- Shall be responsible for monitoring and coordinating all inspection and testing activities, implementing, and maintaining ES Nuclear QS Program to ensure compliance with the applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.
- To maintain and comply with the company safety, health & environmental aspects at the workplaces to avoid injuries, damage to equipment/environment
System Adequacy
- Adherence of Quality Systems such as IMS, ISO17025 as per company’s testing standard requirements, procedures, and work instructions.
Assignment, Flexibility & Compliance with Instructions
- Engineer-Inspection and Testing is required to be sure that completed all duties assigned by the Line Manager, including but not limited to safety, 5S implementation, housekeeping, and cleaning activities, in full compliance with company standards.
- The Supervisor shall be deployed across any rebar or wire rod mills as per operational requirements.
- The employee is obligated to report to and work at any assigned plant, shift, or location as directed by management.

- Thorough knowledge about Quality Inspection & testing
- Thorough knowledge about requirements of ISO 9001, ASME NQA QS Program, LMS, IMS, etc.
- In depth interpretation of the requirements of steel product specification standards
- Competency in handling external certifications as per various steel certification scheme requirements
- High communication skill - fluency in English
- Problem solving, resolution of technical issues
- Excellent English Communication and good liaison skills with the senior operation staff
- I.T. / Computer skills
- Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
- Prepare and present accurate and comprehensive reports and recommendations.
- Thorough understanding of the steelmaking process.
- Functional / technical knowledge
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree in (Metallurgy / Mechanical / Industrial / Chemical)
- Preferred professional training
- Any postgraduate / professional membership
Professional Experience (Must Haves)
- Total 5-7 years’ experience in quality field
