Role summary

Role profile

• Review mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and gas systems for quality, completeness, and technical accuracy.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
• Review BIM models, drawings, and clash detection outputs using Navisworks and other coordination tools.
• Check compliance with project briefs, company standards, and local and international codes.
• Assess constructability and propose value engineering to optimize cost, performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Review technical documentation, including specifications, calculations, reports, shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements.
• Support construction with site visits, technical guidance, issue resolution, and mock-up reviews.
• Collaborate with consultants and internal stakeholders, manage design risks, attend coordination meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Five to seven years of mechanical design experience across retail, residential, mixed-use, and large-scale developments.
• Experience through the full project lifecycle, including design review, coordination, and construction support.
• Strong knowledge of UAE regulations and mechanical design standards is required.
• GCC/MENA experience is preferred.
• Membership in a recognized professional body such as CIBSE or ASHRAE is preferred.
• LEED, BREEAM, or other sustainability certifications are advantageous.
