Veethree Technologies is an established SME business with an international customer base, the company is a fast-moving, forward-thinking hardware development and software organisation that has a dynamic team that provide bespoke software and product applications to its clients in marine and other markets. Due to the continuing growth of the company, we are seeking to appoint a new role of Linux Development Engineer at our offices in Poole, Dorset.
We are seeking an experienced software developer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the development of embedded Linux platforms. This is a key role with shared responsibility for building and maintaining our Linux distributions and configurations across several products. In addition, the role may require some application component development as part of the wider development team.

Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an embedded Linux development environment
- Qualified to degree or HND level or with additional practical experience
- Excellent understanding of embedded Linux systems
- Experience of building and customising Linux images from scratch using Yocto Project and Open Embedded, ideally for NXP/Freescale targets
- Proven expertise in development of new Yocto BSP layers
- Experience of Linux driver development, porting and debugging
- Experience of build and CI systems and tools
- Familiarity with U-Boot
- Familiarity with Linux boot sequence and secure boot techniques
- Familiarity with embedded packaging and update tools. (e.g. swupdate, mender)
- Familiarity with containers and their use within a development environment
- Able to self-manage and work in a small team
- Excellent communicator, written, verbal and electronically with experience interfacing with clients
- A sound approach to Testing and Validation
- Grade 8 Harpist. ( we just wanted to make sure we’re clear that you don’t need all these skills to apply! )

Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a developer looking to develop further by working in a small engineering team in a growing business. This role gives the opportunity to have significant influence in our platform development, influencing both our products and processes.
You will be involved in the complete project lifecycle, from requirements capture with customers through to deployment. The role may require occasional travel both domestic and international to meet the needs of the business, including travel to our facility in Florida.
