The technician executes projects properly and on time, spending most working time in the field or at client premises.
The role reports to the Project Engineer and Technical Manager or Operations Manager.
Project and maintenance duties
- Deliver contract and subcontract activities according to instructions and company procedures.
- Manage maintenance schedules and attend on-call support by telephone or online.
- Prepare inspection procedures, delivery notes, completion certificates, project status reports, and field service reports.
- Estimate site requirements for tools and installation materials, costs, and timescales.
- Conduct site installation, termination, inspection, testing, and handover according to project plans.
- Supervise subcontractors handling hardware installations and terminations.
- Coordinate design, execution, and commissioning plans with project and system engineers.
- Troubleshoot and repair system hardware at sites.
- Communicate project information, suggest process improvements, and support team development.
Role requirements
- Understand internet, intranet, extranet, and client/server architectures.
- Follow project and system engineer instructions for installation and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues as required.
- Comply with safety standards and company procedures.
- Identify required site tools and installation materials and estimate costs and timescales.
Work location
- Work is in person, with most technician time spent in the field or at client premises.
