About This Role
Roles and Responsibilities – Electrical Design Engineer (Consultant)
Electrical System Design
Prepare detailed design for electrical systems including:
Power distribution (LV/MV systems)
Lighting systems (internal & external)
Earthing and lightning protection
ELV systems (Fire alarm, CCTV, data, access control)
Ensure designs comply with local authority regulations and international standards (IEC, BS, etc.
Design Documentation
Develop:
Electrical drawings (layouts, single line diagrams, schematics)
Load calculations and voltage drop calculations
Technical specifications and design reports
Coordinate with drafting team for accurate CAD/BIM outputs
Coordination with Other Disciplines
Work closely with:
Civil, structural, and mechanical engineers
Architects and other consultants
Ensure clash-free and coordinated design (especially in BIM environments)
Authority Approvals
Prepare and submit design documents to local authorities (e.g., ADDC/DEWA/SEWA depending on project location)
Address comments and revise designs as required
Technical Review & Compliance
Review contractor/shop drawings and material submittals
Ensure compliance with approved design and project specifications
Site Support (if required)
Provide technical clarification during construction
Attend site meetings and inspections
Assist in resolving design-related issues on site
Value Engineering
Propose cost-effective and efficient design solutions without compromising quality and safety
Project Management Support
Assist in project planning, timelines, and deliverables
Ensure design milestones are met

Key Skills Required
Strong knowledge of electrical design standards (IEC, NFPA, BS)
Experience in software like AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), ETAP, Dialux
Good coordination and communication skills
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
