ELECTRICAL ENGINEER | Abu Dhabi | 4-Month Contract

Overview

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• *Technical Oversight*
• Read, interpret, and challenge electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure design intent is met on site.
• Verify that all installed components — alternators, switchgear, control systems, breakers, and LV/MV equipment — conform to approved client submittals and project specifications.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues arising during installation, testing, and commissioning, escalating where necessary.
• *Installation & Commissioning*
• Drive installation, assembly, and integration activities for diesel generator electrical systems, ensuring quality and programme are maintained.
• Execute and support commissioning activities, including load testing, synchronisation testing, and control system verification.
• Manage the electrical punch list through to close-out, ensuring all outstanding items are tracked and resolved.
• *Coordination & Compliance*
• Act as the electrical interface with mechanical, structural, QA/QC, commissioning, and project management teams.
• Monitor site activities against quality control procedures, flagging and resolving non-conformances promptly.
• Maintain accurate and timely technical documentation throughout all project phases.

Required Skills & Experience

• *Qualifications*
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progression towards it is advantageous.
• *Experience*
• Minimum 5 years' hands-on site experience within power generation, EPC, industrial, or data centre projects — with a demonstrable track record of delivering from installation through to commissioning.
• Proven experience with diesel generator electrical systems and the associated infrastructure in live or fast-paced project environments.
• **Data centre project experience is highly desirable, given the critical nature and technical complexity of the systems involved.**
• *Technical Knowledge*
• Strong working knowledge of synchronisation systems, switchgear, control panels, breakers, and LV/MV systems.
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and control system documentation with confidence.
• Familiarity with FAT/SAT processes, load bank testing, and relevant international electrical standards (IEC, BS, or equivalent).
