Electrical Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and supervise MV/LV systems, including 11kV/33kV networks, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution.
• Prepare and review electrical shop drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical submittals.
• Coordinate with TAQA and relevant utility authorities on approvals, inspections, and energization.
• Manage project execution, site supervision, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants, vendors, and suppliers to support timely completion.
• Review material specifications, technical submissions, and procurement requirements.
• Ensure compliance with TAQA, ADDC/ADWEA, IEC, and applicable local authority standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and oversee maintenance planning and system upgrades.
• Monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance with approved specifications.
• Maintain project documentation, inspection records, test reports, and commissioning documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, utility, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with TAQA or other UAE utility authority requirements.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution systems, substations, transformers, and switchgear.
• Experience in electrical design, site execution, testing, and commissioning.
• Familiarity with electrical standards, authority approvals, and project handover procedures.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, and electrical power system studies.
• Project management, coordination, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• PMP certification is preferred.
• UPDA/PE registration or equivalent professional registration is preferred where applicable.
• NEBOSH or equivalent safety certification is preferred.
• Relevant electrical engineering authority approvals are preferred where applicable.
• Preferred project experience includes industrial plants, substations, utility interfaces, power distribution, transformer and switchgear installation and commissioning, and HV/MV/LV network upgrades.

Compensation

• Full-time role paying AED 9,000–12,000 per month.
