Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from concept through completion and manage engineering deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
• Lead design of power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, emergency lighting, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Oversee designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, scopes of work, and BOQs; review, approve, and independently check technical documents.
• Solve complex electrical engineering problems with technically sound, cost-effective solutions.
• Lead and coordinate design engineers, CAD personnel, and other engineering resources.
• Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, consultants, other disciplines, and construction teams.
• Advise on equipment selection and procurement, including techno-commercial reviews.
• Drive value engineering and assess constructability, completeness, and practicality.
• Represent the company in design meetings and liaise with authorities to obtain design approvals.
• Conduct design reviews and audits for quality and compliance; resolve design issues arising during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 15+ years of design and engineering experience in data centre, MEP, or construction work, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Data centre project design and delivery experience is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and building services design, including technical and contractual aspects.
• Design experience in power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, emergency lighting, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Experience leading complex multidisciplinary engineering design or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of local and international codes, standards, and accepted industry practices.
• Knowledge of electrical design, procurement, and construction methods and codes.
• Familiarity with BIM.
• Working knowledge of Amtech, Hevacomp, ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Strong project management, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
