Role overview

Raytheon seeks an Early Warning Radar Operator Maintainer for Qatar Early Warning Radar operations.

The assignment is described as long-term and onsite in Qatar, supporting radar operations and maintenance on a 24/7 basis.

Duties

  • Operate and maintain the Qatar Early Warning Radar system and support engineering, logistics, maintenance, and operations teams.
  • Plan, document, execute, and support radar operations and maintenance; respond to system issues across shifts.
  • Collaborate with the System Integration Lab analysis team and systems and software engineers to document, develop, and implement solutions.
  • Present findings and solutions to leadership or customers.
  • Troubleshoot radar using field support equipment, diagnostics, unit self-tests, and built-in test equipment.
  • Monitor complex RF system performance, isolate failures, and replace failed components.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance using ALCS or equivalent systems.
  • Provide technical advice to foreign military personnel on EWR operational and tactical procedures.
  • Conduct OJT and participate in CMOC exercises using practice scenarios.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, respond to downing events, and perform physical duties in extreme environments.

Required qualifications

  • Complete EWR console certification under the U.S. Air Force or an equivalent EWR contractor course.
  • Have 5 years of experience testing, integrating, maintaining, aligning, adjusting, calibrating, and operating RF equipment associated with EWR systems.
  • Have experience assessing complex RF performance, troubleshooting, isolating failures, and replacing components.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree; the posting also allows experience to substitute for education and requires 10 years without a degree.
  • An active, transferable U.S. government-issued Secret clearance is required before starting; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Preferred qualifications

  • EWR system and subsystem operation and maintenance experience down to component level is preferred.
  • Arabic literacy, CMOC exercise experience, ALCS or equivalent scheduling-system experience, and prior OJT participation are preferred.
  • Experience advising foreign military personnel, coordinating with customers or contractors, and CORE Certification are preferred.

Work schedule

  • The position requires rotating 12-hour shifts and may require responses to radar downing events.

Assignment and location details

  • The role is described as an onsite long-term assignment in Qatar.
  • The description also gives a U.S. work location and states that the role is U.S.-based, conflicting with the Qatar assignment information.

Compensation

  • The stated salary range is USD 95,500–181,700; no pay cadence is specified.

Benefits

  • Benefits may include healthcare, retirement, flexible work schedules, educational assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and other programs; eligibility depends on business unit and role coverage.
