Drilling Engineer

Purpose

Drilling engineering and operations

• Support and supervise technical integrity and assurance of well designs, integrating subsurface and wells teams during planning.
• Develop and maintain the Drilling Basis of Design with the subsurface team.
• Plan development wells and optimize well designs, casing, cementing, and fluid programs.
• Conduct technical risk assessments, contingency planning, and mitigation planning.
• Evaluate existing well designs and recommend operational improvements.
• Lead offshore drilling operations and deliver detailed field development drilling engineering.

Cost, contracting, and vendors

• Prepare drilling project cost estimates and review and optimize schedules of rates and drilling programs.
• Oversee contracting from preparing scopes of work to selecting rigs, well equipment, and services.
• Align technical elements and commercial recommendations with company operational goals.
• Coordinate well planning with contractors and manage contractor performance for rigs, equipment, and well service providers.

Leadership, compliance, and reporting

• Set an example for HSSE and foster a safety-first culture across drilling and completion activities.
• Manage and mentor drilling engineers and coordinate in-house technical support with external service providers.
• Ensure compliance with national and international regulations and standards; participate in rig, well-site, and service-base audits.
• Prepare regular reports on operations, cost estimates, and project progress for senior management.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to align operational objectives.

Qualifications and experience

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
• 8–12 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated business acumen and ability to lead teams.
• Demonstrated experience dealing with suppliers and/or customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in a multicultural and changing environment.
