Partners with a principal systems architect who holds cross-system design authority for the sensor line.
Engineering delivery and leadership
- Own sensor portfolio delivery across hardware design, embedded software, signal processing, and verification.
- Drive the next-generation perimeter intrusion detection platform while sustaining fielded products and supporting long product lifecycles.
- Balance new development, sustaining engineering, field escalations, and manufacturing support; make delivery trade-offs explicit.
- Own planning and roadmap commitments with Product Management, including estimation, resourcing, and make-or-buy decisions.
- Oversee design services and manufacturing documentation, design-for-manufacture, and regulatory or compliance requirements.
- Own quality outcomes and resolve complex field issues across hardware, firmware, and installation environments.
- Establish engineering standards, design reviews, and delivery discipline across hardware and embedded software.
- Develop managers, technical leads, early-career engineers, and senior contributors; recruit and retain engineering talent.
- Lead across sites, collaborate on a common product vision, and serve as a contact for Sales and Marketing on functionality, competition, and implementation.
Required qualifications
- Proven leadership across hardware and software engineering, including managing managers, in an organization of comparable scale.
- Deep grounding in at least one sensor domain: embedded systems, signal processing, RF, electro-optics/photonics, or electronics design, or equivalent.
- Experience delivering products from concept through design, verification, certification or release, and field support.
- Experience developing engineers and managers and leading senior individual contributors alongside architect-level peers.
- Experience leading distributed or multi-site engineering teams and executing parallel hardware and software workstreams.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with seven to ten years leading technology product development and product architecture.
Nice-to-have experience
- Perimeter security, physical security, defence, or other safety- and security-critical products.
- Fiber-optic sensing, distributed acoustic sensing, radar/microwave detection, or similar technologies.
- Regulatory certification for electronic products, such as CE, FCC, or UL; design-for-manufacture practices.
- Scrum and other Agile methodologies.
