Dishwasher, Stewarding (Part-Time)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Inspect and sanitize flatware, tableware, kitchen equipment, dishes, glassware, cutlery, buffetware, pots, and pans.
• Clean assigned kitchen areas and dispose of trash from Food & Beverage areas.
• Remove broken, chipped, or nonfunctional items from circulation and report repair needs.
• Ensure kitchen and banquet teams have the clean items needed for service.
• Sort, stack, and safely store cleaned items.
• Sweep and mop floors and keep them free of hazards and obstructions.
• Follow department policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Provide professional, engaging, and friendly service.

Experience and skills

• Previous experience is an asset.
• Candidates should be self-motivated, able to make effective decisions, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, organization, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure are required.
• Candidates must be able to work independently from a task list and remain calm and courteous with guests.

Physical requirements

• The role requires constant standing and walking throughout the shift.
• The role requires frequent lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds.
• The role includes occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, and use of ladders, stairs, and ramps.
• The role is performed in humid and hot environments.

Workplace

• The position is based at Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa and supports kitchen and banquet operations in a hotel environment.

Compensation

• The full rate of pay is $25.06 per hour.
