Position Summary The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading the Human Resources and Learning & Development function and partnering closely with the hotel leadership team to align culture, talent, and performance with Hyatt’s purpose of caring for people so they can be their best .
This role serves as a trusted advisor, coach, and mentor to leaders, with a strong focus on building high-performing teams, delivering an outstanding colleague experience, driving leadership development, and strengthening Hyatt’s talent pipeline. The Director of Human Resources plays a critical role in inspiring colleagues, enhancing engagement, and translating people strategies into meaningful business results.
Key Responsibilities Arrival Experience
- Partner with department leaders to deliver an inspirational onboarding and welcome experience aligned with Hyatt’s Purpose and Brand.
- Ensure all colleague-facing communication and Heart of House areas reflect Hyatt’s culture, values, and brand standards.
- Oversee a seamless onboarding and transition experience for new colleagues to support early engagement and retention.
Culture & Engagement
- Protect, strengthen, and promote Hyatt’s culture, purpose, and values to improve engagement metrics year over year.
- Partner with the General Manager and Leadership Team to develop and execute plans that support the hotel’s purpose and achieve strategic goals.
- Serve as a mentor and key resource for leaders on colleague engagement, inclusion, and performance.
- Review engagement progress monthly with the Leadership Team and adjust actions as needed.
- Coach and develop leaders to align behaviors with Hyatt’s Purpose and ensure succession readiness.
- Support leaders in aligning business objectives with Hyatt’s strategic priorities.
- Guide leaders in setting clear performance expectations and measurable goals.
- Collaborate with operations leaders to support engagement initiatives and customer service excellence.
Growth & Learning
- Lead Human Resources process reviews to improve efficiency, maximize team capabilities, and align HR priorities with Hyatt’s Brand.
- Champion and guide leaders through organizational change and area structures.
- Partner with Area and Regional teams on leadership development, succession planning, talent reviews, and individual development plans.
- Ensure completion of all new hire and annual compliance training requirements.
Serve – Human Resources Operations
- Act as the primary point of contact for leadership on day-to-day HR operations, engagement, recognition, and colleague relations.
- Foster a culture of open feedback through check-ins, feedback sessions, and empathy interviews.
- Identify and apply for relevant industry awards and hotel recognitions.
- Develop and support meaningful Hyatt Care initiatives that positively impact the local community.
- Handle colleague concerns and employment complaints with empathy, care, and professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with Hyatt policies, UAE labor laws, data security, and records retention requirements.
- Manage the Human Resources budget responsibly to control costs and support the hotel’s financial success.
Departure Experience
- Oversee departure processes and conduct exit interviews.
- Analyze exit data and provide insights to leaders to continuously improve the colleague experience and reduce turnover.
Qualifications Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HR and a minimum of 2 to 3 years as Director of Human Resources or in a comparable senior HR leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of core Human Resources disciplines, including colleague relations, training and development, performance management, and diversity.
- Proven experience operating within the UAE Labor Law framework.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Professional certification or qualification in Human Resources or Talent Development is an advantage.
