About the Role
This role is responsible for ensuring the company's interests are safeguarded at all times by advising the company on issues relating to relating to limitation of action, and in addition to
represent the company in all matters relating to litigation actions taken against Ooredoo.
Functional Context
The Legal & Regulatory function is responsible for providing legal & regulatory advice, support & counselling on all legal & regulatory matters to a range of internal customers across the organization.
The General Council division provides advice and support on all issues related to litigation as they relate to Ooredoo and its businesses.
This role has responsibility for ensuring that all aspects of the company are safe from litigation or to undertake litigation actions to safeguard its interests.
As the company has a broad range of companies within the group this is a significant undertaking.
Role Accountabilities
- Provides legal support to all areas of Ooredoo’s business in respect of litigation matters.
- Represents the company in all matters related to litigation, either against Ooredoo or in Ooredoo’s actions against others.
- Maintains records of all litigation cases which are being undertaken by Ooredoo Group to ensure all cases are captured and tracked appropriately in order to see them through to satisfactory completion.
- Participates in negotiation for settlements in cases being pursued by the company ensuring the company position is safeguarded and the outcome is satisfactory to all parties.
- Liaises with all the company’s external law firms in litigation cases providing them with all necessary data, tracking progress, driving them to complete cases within the required timescales and within budget.
- Undertakes research on relevant laws of the land, new legislation, etc, and keep appropriate records of such laws and legislation for reference purposes.
- Provides advice to the company on any potential action required should any such law or legislation be amended.
- Manages the on-line subscription to the law publications and create and manage the database for same.
- Manages the internal law library.
- Undertakes compliance audit for all policies and procedures in order to ensure they are followed as outlined, e.g. tender evaluation process.
- Provides advice to BU’s on all non-compliance or interpretation or application of policies or procedural issues, ensuring they have the information necessary to take the appropriate corrective actions.
- Advice the company on contractual or policy issues related to Ooredoo and its customers, drafting agreements and updating and/or amending same for all new products and services developed by the company would be one example.
- Supervises the legal support team in respect of their day-to-day work ensuring that they are managed, developed, motivated and appraised to ensure the highest level of performance at all times.
- Acts as the single point of contact for the business with regards to any litigation matters.
Minimum Entry Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Law or Regulatory Affairs or Business Administration
Minimum Experience, Essential Knowledge & Skills
15-20 years' experience in a similar role.
Experience
in dealing with commercial areas within a major law firm and / or commercial business – preferably telecommunications related or where there are significant regulatory frameworks
