Directs interior design concepts, processes, and consultants for real estate projects from pre-concept design through construction documentation.
Provides creative and technical leadership to maintain and improve interior design standards for new and existing properties.
Design leadership and standards
- Lead interior design projects across phases from concept to completion, managing multiple projects through a coherent process.
- Develop interior design brand standards and guidelines aligned with the organization’s vision and standards.
- Create guidelines, design and technical standards, and FF&E and OS&E specifications.
- Ensure layouts, detailed drawings, and FF&E specifications follow unified schemes and project programs.
- Keep current with developments in interior design materials, techniques, and trends.
Project delivery and coordination
- Assess the market, define requirements and qualification criteria, and recommend designer selections.
- Define design scope; contribute to design agreements and contracts; and control design costs.
- Verify and procure acceptable design documentation for each design stage.
- Conduct periodic on-site construction observations to check compliance with plans and initial requests.
- Represent the real estate business in meetings reviewing proposals, contracts, and mock-ups.
- Monitor departmental KPIs and motivate interior design teams.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a relevant subject.
- 10+ years of experience in high-end or large-scale residential and hospitality projects, including at least five years in a leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) and MS Project.
- Skills include concept design and mood boards, team leadership, designer and stakeholder coordination, and managing design-change impacts on cost, time, and quality.
