Key accountabilities
- Conduct timely special investigations arising from referrals by the Audit Committee, Head of Internal Control, whistleblowing channel, management, or audit teams.
- Prioritize special audits based on risk rating and urgency; monitor and report departmental performance and status to the Head of Internal Control.
- Manage ad hoc audit requirements from the audit committee and management and direct the team in executing assignments.
- Advise senior executives and business-unit management on best practices and corrective measures; build stakeholder relationships to support internal controls.
- Monitor agreed action plans with business owners and provide consultancy and support to other departments on request.
- Plan and manage forensic investigations and special and financial audits in line with internal control procedures.
- Prepare audit objectives, scope, and approach; manage audit testing and identify reportable issues and risks.
- Validate observations with business owners and obtain action plans and timelines.
- Prepare, review, consolidate, and issue detailed audit reports and summary presentations for executive management.
- Assess compliance with the internal control department manual, address whistleblowing issues, review forensic-function goals, and improve efficiency, reliability, and integrity.
- Regularly update the Audit Committee on forensic case status.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- At least 10 years of accounting and auditing experience, or eight years for UAE nationals.
- Related certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or CIA are preferred.
- Prior experience in a large telco domain and knowledge of regional and international best practices are preferred.
Skills
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- English language skills and good computer skills.
