Director, Engineering
Role Overview
Venture Global builds and operates LNG export facilities in Louisiana and is expanding the gas-fired power generation that runs them to supply off-grid AI data centers. Our modular, mid-scale LNG design delivers the efficiency and reliability of traditional plants at significantly lower capital cost. Our projects are among the fastest greenfield LNG projects ever completed, delivered with an exemplary safety record. This role exists to build on that.
You will work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company where projects often start as a problem, not a defined scope, and you'll be expected to set the direction yourself. You must be a self-starter with a strong bias for action. You'll report directly to the Senior Director of Engineering and be trusted to deliver results.
You'll thrive here if you:
Own outcomes and clear the path for your team, removing roadblocks and constraints so the work keeps moving
Make timely, sound engineering decisions that drive projects forward while upholding every standard
Roll up your sleeves: you're in the field, in the calcs, and in the meetings
Push back on "this is how it's always done" while never compromising process safety
General Description Duties & Responsibilities
Lead engineering for a portfolio of brownfield projects at an operating facility, directing project engineers and multidisciplinary subject matter experts from feasibility and front-end design through IFC packages and field execution.
Improve established designs and business results by leveraging resources outside your direct control.
Support construction and turnaround teams with timely RFI responses and field support.
Develop project engineers within the stage-gate process, and adapt that process into a fit-for-purpose system tailored to Venture Global's execution strategy.
Build procedures and processes across a broad range of disciplines, identify gaps that hinder effective execution, and engage stakeholders for buy-in and support.
Establish and track KPIs to ensure project success, using leading and lagging indicators to manage risk independently when dedicated project controls support is limited.
Drive innovative approaches to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements, supported by risk assessments and feasibility studies that adhere to all codes, standards, and technical requirements.
Partner with Operations to understand project needs, and quickly develop feasibility and cost/break-even analyses with limited information.
Present to stakeholders at all levels, including executives, plant management, direct reports, and finance.
