Director - Design - Sport BU (SPA4- SPO-078)

About This Role

Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking an experienced and visionary Director - Design to lead the Sport Business Unit (Sport BU) design initiatives. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the design strategy and execution of innovative sports facilities and related infrastructure, delivering cutting-edge environments that enhance the sporting experience and align with Qiddiya's strategic objectives.

The Director will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and partners to ensure design excellence, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and planning of the Qiddiya sports assets working closely with the Qiddiya Development Lead and the design managers (MEP/Structures/Civils/Public Realm)
• Provide architectural design management on the Asset/s working closely with the LDC and any other sub-consultants.
• Provide insights into design solutions where there might be cost savings or other benefits to constructibility / future operations etc
• Ensure coordination of the design and engineering with all disciplines
• Closely work with the development team to align to budgets and project timescales
• Manage weekly design meetings
• Coordinate with the Master developer where required
• Ensure the assets meet all building codes including City Framework standards and other standards required by relevant Sports stakeholders and Federations
• Keep abreast of any changing codes and ensure they are adopted.
• Ensure the consultants meet their deliverables as per the contract
• Oversee the review all drawings / deliverables and approve or comment as required.
• Coordinate closely with relevant subject matter experts on Sports and building technology that will be planned to ensure 'best in class' swimming and training facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• 12+ years of progressive experience in design leadership, preferably focused on sports facilities or large-scale entertainment projects
• Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams successfully
• Strong strategic, creative, and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and sustainability
• Proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders
• Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and sustainable design principles relevant to sports and entertainment facilities
