Devops Consultant

Role Overview

Consulting Delivery

• Analyse client environments for improvement opportunities using DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud-native platforms, automation, and AI-powered engineering tools.
• Prepare gap assessments and AI-integrated DevOps automation roadmaps covering CI/CD/CT from requirements through operations.
• Architect intelligent DevOps and DevSecOps tooling integrations across GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, and AI-enhanced developer tools.
• Design and optimise CI/CD/CT pipelines for Java, .NET, ERP, and cloud-native applications.
• Drive automation across build, release, deployment, infrastructure provisioning, environment management, monitoring, and operational processes.
• Support platform engineering initiatives focused on scalable, secure, and intelligent engineering environments.
• Work with AWS, Azure, and GCP on scaling, availability, capacity planning, and AI-based resource optimisation.
• Manage container and cloud-native environments including Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, OpenShift, EKS, and AKS.

AI and Automation Enablement

• Mentor DevOps engineers and delivery teams in Generative AI tools including GitHub Copilot, GitLab Duo, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
• Apply prompt engineering for code generation, pipeline automation, documentation, testing, and knowledge management.
• Identify AI/ML and Generative AI opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, deployment reliability, incident response, anomaly detection, and operational visibility.
• Research emerging AI/ML, MLOps, Generative AI, DevSecOps, and platform engineering technologies.
• Contribute scalable automation strategies for intelligent, secure, and resilient software delivery.

Leadership and Stakeholders

• Develop best practices, coaching aids, white papers, and reusable assets for Agile transformation, DevOps maturity, AI-enabled delivery, and engineering excellence.
• Engage senior client stakeholders and executives as an Agile, DevOps, and AI engineering evangelist.
• Support client transformation strategy, maturity assessments, operating-model recommendations, and implementation planning.
• Contribute to business development by shaping Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, and AI-led transformation solutions.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of IT experience with substantial experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, SRE, cloud engineering, systems integration, or technology transformation.
• Proven leadership of enterprise consulting engagements, assessments, roadmaps, operating-model design, and implementation programs.
• Hands-on CI/CD/CT, release engineering, deployment automation, infrastructure as code, configuration management, and software engineering knowledge.
• Experience with Git, Maven or Gradle, Artifactory or Nexus, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, and infrastructure automation technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, AKS, Docker, and cloud-native platforms.
• Strong cloud, SRE, observability, AI-assisted engineering, responsible AI governance, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to AI/ML frameworks or tools such as Python ML, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Spark ML, or MLOps platforms.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, APM, capacity planning, incident response, and AI-based anomaly detection.
• Experience with MongoDB, Redis, Memcached, web server technologies, or cloud-native application architectures.
• Experience creating Agile or DevOps coaching aids, maturity assessment models, transformation playbooks, or reusable consulting assets.
