Rail infrastructure opportunities

Mace describes opportunities connected with UAE passenger rail, freight, metro and integrated transport programmes.

The posting invites professionals from project management, programme management, planning, commercial management, engineering, design management, project controls and delivery leadership to discuss future opportunities.

Although the title is Design Manager - Rail, the description presents a multi-discipline invitation rather than a clearly defined single vacancy.

Design management duties described

  • Coordinate design scope, responsibilities, deliverables, approvals, maturity, constructability, change and technical interfaces.
  • Develop and implement design management strategies, governance frameworks and delivery controls aligned with client requirements.
  • Drive collaboration among clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and project teams for integrated design solutions.
  • Integrate design management with programme, commercial, procurement, risk, change and assurance processes.
  • Monitor design performance, maturity and compliance; identify risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Provide reporting, performance insights and decision support for governance and informed decisions.
  • Maintain statutory, contractual, quality and business compliance, with robust records and audit trails.
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and service excellence.
  • Help identify and manage carbon emissions and reductions in support of the net-zero transition.

Candidate qualifications

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in the applicable discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience on rail, metro, high-speed rail or comparable major infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong client-facing, analytical, written communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable delivery processes, standards, systems and governance.
  • Professional membership, chartership or specialist certification is preferred where applicable.
  • UAE or wider GCC experience is advantageous, but does not replace technical and delivery competence.

Working options

  • The employer is open to discussing part-time, flexible and hybrid working if suitable for a role.

Employer

Mace describes its work as construction expertise combined with consultancy and emphasizes safety, client focus, integrity and continuous improvement.
