About Lucidya

Lucidya describes itself as an AI-native Customer Experience Intelligence platform that helps organizations understand customer conversations and improve customer experiences.

Its production databases span AWS, GCP, and in-Kingdom hosting, supporting business-critical workloads, high-volume ingestion, and multi-tenant applications.

Role overview

The Database Administrator owns the health and operational reliability of production databases.

The environment includes PostgreSQL and MySQL across AWS, GCP, self-managed systems, and in-Kingdom hosting.

The role addresses multi-terabyte environments, high availability, disaster recovery, major-version upgrades, and safe migrations.

The administrator works with engineering, cloud, and reliability teams to improve database decisions and prevent production incidents.

Database operations

  • Manage PostgreSQL and MySQL databases across AWS, GCP, and self-managed environments; monitor performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Optimize queries, indexing, and resource utilization; manage backups, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Implement replication, high availability, and failover; plan upgrades, migrations, and safe schema changes.
  • Maintain database security, access controls, and auditing; automate operations using Bash, Python, or similar tools.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Cloud teams.

First 30 to 60 days

  • Within 30 days, understand the production database estate, architecture, workflows, monitoring, and recovery procedures; build working relationships and identify key risks.
  • By day 60, independently handle assigned administration and troubleshooting, review backup configurations, and begin validating recovery procedures.
  • Identify monitoring and alerting gaps, including replication lag, WAL contention, autovacuum, and table bloat; contribute to performance improvements and documentation.

By days 90 to 120

  • By day 90, complete or progress critical restore tests, document gaps and corrective actions, create practical runbooks, and implement prioritized monitoring improvements.
  • By day 120, establish safer change management with reviews, DDL auditing, and rollback planning.
  • Develop a PostgreSQL major-upgrade roadmap, assess the SITE database high-availability approach, and make database size and activity metrics available for customer cost allocation.

Required experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on production PostgreSQL administration experience.
  • Experience with AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS, MySQL, and self-managed Linux databases.
  • Understanding of performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience managing multi-terabyte databases, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Ability to automate database operations using Bash or Python.
  • Hands-on backup, recovery, replication, and failover experience; troubleshoot incidents and minimize downtime.
  • Follow safe change-management practices, maintain rollback plans, troubleshoot query and resource issues, and understand PostgreSQL internals and multi-tenant challenges.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively, document work, take ownership, and continuously improve reliability.

Nice to have

  • Multi-tenant database architecture experience, especially schema-per-tenant environments with thousands of schemas.
  • Experience with very large, high-write-volume databases; PostgreSQL tools such as Patroni, pgBackRest, or WAL-G.
  • Cloud migration or in-Kingdom hosting experience; database observability, capacity planning, and customer usage or cost allocation.
  • Experience in SaaS, data-platform, fintech, banking, or telecommunications environments; infrastructure-as-code tools or automated database provisioning.
  • Relevant EDB PostgreSQL or AWS certifications.

Hiring process

  • The process includes an initial screening, a 45-minute technical screen, a 60–90-minute technical deep-dive with a practical scenario, a hiring manager interview, and a culture-fit interview.
