Responsibilities

• Perform database administration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain database systems.
• Manage backups, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
• Monitor performance, capacity, availability, and database health; optimize SQL queries and tune performance.
• Manage security, users, roles, permissions, and access controls; resolve incidents and performance issues.
• Support migrations, upgrades, patching, and maintenance; ensure data integrity, reliability, and availability.
• Maintain documentation, procedures, and configurations; collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams.
• Participate in failover and disaster recovery testing and support production, development, and testing environments.

Required qualifications and skills

• At least five years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
• Strong experience with one or more of PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Experience with installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, backup and recovery, and replication.
• Experience supporting high availability, disaster recovery, SQL optimization, performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Experience troubleshooting incidents, administering security and access, managing database users and roles, and supporting production environments.
• Experience with migrations, upgrades, and patch management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, and documentation skills.

Advantageous skills

• Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, and SQL Server Failover Clustering.
• PostgreSQL Streaming Replication, Patroni, or PgPool; MySQL Replication; Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, or similar monitoring tools; Linux administration; shell, PowerShell, or Python scripting.
• Azure, AWS, OCI, or GCP database services; DevOps, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and ITIL knowledge.
• Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL certifications.
