Role overview

Location and schedule

• Based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, with at least three days per week on site.
• The role is 42.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Manipulate data from multiple sources using Excel, Power Query/Power BI and/or Python or SQL, and improve processing efficiency.
• Work with commercial assistants to reduce manual effort in staff cost reporting.
• Collaborate with the Cost Manager to improve application-for-payment processes.
• Cover white- and blue-collar cost reporting for commercial assistants.
• Build relationships with Commercial, Procurement, Finance and external parties.
• Provide data outputs that help project teams manage cost, quality and schedule.

Requirements

• Advanced Power BI and Power Query or equivalent data modelling skills, including use of multiple Excel and unstructured datasets.
• Strong Excel skills, including INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested IFs, TEXTBEFORE/AFTER and VSTACK.
• Strong numerical, analytical and critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, collaboration and ownership.
• Curiosity, active listening and ability to offer relevant ideas.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in data science, programming, finance or quantity surveying.
• GCSEs including Maths, English and IT or a technical subject at grade 5 or above.
• BPSS check and further pre-employment checks are required.
