Data Engineering Lead

As a Lead Data Engineer within our Data & Analytics team, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering Cleanaway’s enterprise data and digital engineering strategy. Combining hands-on technical expertise with leadership, you’ll deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that support smarter decision-making and business-critical outcomes.

Working across a Microsoft Azure ecosystem, you’ll lead and mentor engineers while partnering with operational, commercial and technology stakeholders to deliver modern data platforms, applications and digital solutions.

You’re a forward-thinking engineering professional with strong technical expertise across data and software engineering. You’re comfortable leading complex initiatives, influencing technical direction and translating ideas clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.

Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data and software engineering solutions.

Deep expertise across Azure and modern data platforms, including Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake and Data Lake technologies.

Strong software engineering capability across C#, .NET, REST APIs and modern frontend frameworks such as React.

Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep, ARM or Terraform, alongside modern CI/CD, Azure DevOps and Git-based practices.

Strong SQL, ELT and dimensional modelling skills, with hands-on Python or PySpark experience for data transformation, orchestration and automation.

Proven technical leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and deliver scalable, secure and sustainable solutions.
