More about your role

  • As a Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building and continuously improving our Microsoft Fabric data platform, creating a trusted and scalable foundation for reporting, customer insight and advanced analytics. You'll help shape how data is collected, transformed and made available across the business, ensuring high standards of quality, governance and security.
  • You'll develop data pipelines and models that support operational and customer-focused reporting, while also taking ownership of key CRM data engineering activities. This includes building and maintaining the single customer view, customer matching and consent processes, segmentation feeds and campaign datasets. Working closely with colleagues across Data & Insight, CRM, IT and Customer teams, you'll provide reliable, business-ready data products that support better decision-making and customer experiences. You'll also contribute to platform optimisation, automation, testing, release management and operational support.
  • At Places for People we are committed to a safe working environment so a basic DBS check is mandatory.

Essential Criteria

Demonstrable experience designing, building and supporting production data pipelines, data platforms or analytical data products,

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering,

Strong SQL skills, with practical experience using Python and/or PySpark for data engineering solutions,

Experience implementing source control, CI/CD processes, environment promotion and release management for data solutions

Proven experience integrating data from APIs, databases, files and third-party platforms, alongside implementing monitoring and data quality controls.

More about you

You're an experienced data engineering professional who enjoys turning complex and fragmented data into reliable, scalable and reusable data products. You'll be comfortable working across a variety of source systems and technologies, with a strong focus on data quality, governance and security. Experience of CRM, customer data platforms, customer identity resolution or single customer view solutions would be advantageous, as would relevant Microsoft Fabric or Azure certifications.

You'll thrive in a collaborative environment, working with analysts, architects, suppliers and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions that support organisational goals. We're looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented and committed to learning, development and delivering excellent outcomes for colleagues and customers alike.
