D489 COMPATIBILITY TEST FACILITY COMPONENT ENGINEER

Bachelor of Science in engineering in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Marine, Mechatronics, Computers, Chemical, materials.

0 – 5 years of relevant engineering experience is required

Masters of Science or Engineering degree with technical background (e.g. Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Marine, Mechatronics, Physics, Mathematics, etc.) is preferred

1 - 5 year(s) of COLUMBIA or VA engineering experience (design of a ship component or similar program, including the preparation, review and approval of technical work documents, or test procedures) is preferred

Knowledge of the COLUMBIA IPS component and system designs as well as the CTF requirements and capabilities is preferred

Prior experience supporting COLUMBIA IPS component testing of either Main Propulsion Drives (MPDs), Main Propulsion Controllers (MPCs), Main Propulsion Switchboards (MP SWBDs) or ACCs is preferred

Experience working with NAVSEA/NNL

Multi-disciplinary systems engineering experience in complex systems based products

Experience with MIL Standards

Experience in control systems, power electronics, variable speed motor drives, software configuration management, fluid systems engineering, or thermal analysis

Experience supporting deck plate work evolutions and interfacing with Operations and Test

Able to work independently and adhere to strict work control requirements

Positive attitude and strong ability to work well with others

Experience using Microsoft products

Experience working in a high stress, high tempo environment

Experience working long hours
