Cost Accountant | Financial Planning Analyst

Role overview

Cost accounting and reporting

• Prepare cost accounting records, schedules, and analyses; analyze product, service, project, manufacturing, and operational costs.
• Monitor direct and indirect costs, overheads, labor, and materials; review product, standard, and actual costs and investigate variances.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and explain material fluctuations.
• Support inventory valuation, standard-cost updates, stock reconciliations, and inventory accounting.
• Support period-end closing, journal entries, accruals, provisions, allocations, and reconciliations of cost, inventory, and general-ledger accounts.

Planning and financial analysis

• Support annual budgets, operating plans, long-term financial plans, and rolling forecasts; develop models for planning, investment, and operational decisions.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, profitability, cash flow, and key indicators; prepare reports, dashboards, and performance summaries.
• Partner with business units on budgets, targets, forecasts, and objectives; monitor actuals against plans and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyze profitability by product, customer, business unit, project, or market segment; support pricing, resource-allocation, and cost-saving decisions.
• Evaluate financial impacts of projects, capital investments, operational changes, and business initiatives; conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis.
• Maintain models, assumptions, templates, and forecasting tools; improve reporting efficiency, cost controls, and planning methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in cost accounting, management accounting, FP&A, financial analysis, or a similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost analysis, standard costing, and variances.
• Financial modeling ability and experience with annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
• Understand financial statements, cash flow, management accounts, profitability analysis, and financial performance.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
• Experience with ERP and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar.
• Strong analytical, numerical, communication, presentation, organisational, and time-management skills; able to explain findings and manage multiple deadlines.

Preferred qualifications and tools

• Planning, budgeting, consolidation, or business-intelligence tools are an advantage.
• Experience in manufacturing, retail, logistics, technology, services, or other cost-intensive businesses is an advantage.
• ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualifications are highly advantageous.
• Power BI, SQL, financial dashboards, or other data-analysis tools are a plus.
