Overview

ABIS is looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Cost Accountant specializing in Costing & Budgeting to join our finance department.

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing budgeting processes, analyzing cost data, and providing accurate cost reports to support financial planning and decision-making.

This role plays a key part in tracking project costs, ensuring budget adherence, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, budgets, and forecasts
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure compliance with approved budgets
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
  • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
  • Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
  • Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
  • Analyze costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual costs
  • Make estimates of new and proposed costs
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation
  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in cost accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and budgeting techniques
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with ERP systems is an advantage (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365)
