Cosmetics Production & R&D Manager

About This Role

Roles & Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of R&D, production, and factory operations
• Develop ready-to-scale formulations and build a standard formulation library across product categories
• Execute reverse engineering of benchmark/competitor products
• Ensure all products undergo stability testing and packaging compatibility checks
• Oversee daily production planning, batch execution, and output control
• Maintain strict control over BOM, batch accuracy, and raw material usage
• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement immediate corrective actions
• Ensure full GMP compliance across all factory operations
• Handle Dubai Municipality (Montaji) product registration and regulatory documentation
• Manage multiple private label projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery
• Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and management for smooth operations
• Lead and control R&D and production team performance
• Identify non-performing staff and recommend improvements or replacements
• Establish SOPs, workflows, and operational discipline within the factory
• Drive fast product development and launch cycles for own brands
• Maintain documentation ready for audits and inspections at all times

Production Management & Planning

• Plan and supervise daily and monthly production operations, ensuring timely execution aligned with business goals.
• Develop and manage Production Schedules based on sales demand, inventory levels, and raw material availability.
• Oversee and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for all formulations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in material usage.
• Ensure effective coordination between procurement, inventory, and QA/QC teams for smooth production flow.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement process improvements to reduce downtime and cost.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all formulations and production practices comply with UAE regulatory requirements (MoHAP, ESMA, Municipality guidelines).
• Maintain comprehensive documentation such as PIFs, MSDS, COAs, batch records, BOMs, and production logs.
• Ensure manufacturing practices align with GMP, ISO 22716, and internal SOPs.

Process Development

• Establish SOPs and best practices to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality in R&D and production workflows.
• Collaborate with the CEO and cross-functional team members to align product development with strategic business objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Master’s degree or higher in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Experience: 4–8 years of experience in a cosmetics manufacturing or R&D environment, with hands-on formulation expertise.
• Specialization: Strong background in skincare and haircare; experience in color cosmetics is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in reverse engineering, raw material compatibility, formulation design, and lab-to-scale-up conversion. Familiar with SPF testing, pH adjustment, viscosity control, emulsification, and active ingredient integration. Strong knowledge of BOM creation, batch size calculations, and production capacity planning.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UAE compliance regulations and international cosmetic guidelines. Knowledge of cosmetic registration, labeling laws, and product safety requirements.
• Soft Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a high level of initiative.

Other Requirements:
Willingness to relocate and work full-time in the UAE.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
