Role overview

Schedule

• Permanent contract, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Pay

• Pay is £14.9917 to £15.7367 per hour.
• A retainer fee is paid during school holidays.

Main duties

• Prepare and cook meals; assist with menus, portion control, special dietary meals, and function catering where appropriate.
• Support record keeping and kitchen hygiene, health, and safety, including temperature records; help operate service points, including transported meals.
• Assist with planning meals, stock-taking, stores and fridge organisation, deliveries, kitchen management, staff supervision and training, and cash handling where appropriate.
• Complete general kitchen and cleaning duties, promote the service to customers, secure premises, and undertake delegated administration and service duties.
• Comply with legal requirements and codes of practice and promote the school's values and ethos.

Essential requirements

• Either a relevant Level 2 qualification, including NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds 706-1 and 706-2 or equivalent, or two years of food-preparation and cooking experience in a catering establishment.
• Knowledge of HACCP and willingness to undertake job-related training.
• Effective communication, engagement, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Organisation and planning skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and motivation to provide excellent food and customer service.
