Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiothoracic conditions through comprehensive clinical assessments and diagnostic investigations.
• Develop individualized treatment and surgical plans based on patient needs and best clinical practices.
• Perform complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including:

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

• Heart Valve Repair and Replacement
• Lung Resections

• Thoracic Surgical Procedures

• Utilize minimally invasive and advanced surgical techniques when appropriate to improve patient recovery and outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
• Provide comprehensive perioperative care, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative management, and postoperative follow-up.
• Monitor patient progress and manage potential complications to achieve optimal clinical results.
• Participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to established clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and ethical medical practices.

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.
• Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-training experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Expertise in both traditional and minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgical techniques.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and pulmonary anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make critical decisions in complex clinical situations.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development, research, and evidence-based practice.
• Valid medical license and eligibility to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
