Responsibilities

  • Oversee sanctions screening across UAE, UN, OFAC, EU, and UK lists; manage possible matches and advise the business.
  • Support VARA/CBUAE licensing and obligations, regulatory returns including FATCA/CRS, regulator requests, and remediation tracking.
  • Apply FATF Travel Rule requirements and use blockchain analytics to assess wallet and transaction risk.
  • Train staff on AML and sanctions and advise Product, Operations, and Technology.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of financial services compliance, AML/CFT, and sanctions experience, including at least 3 years at a UAE-licensed bank, fintech, or virtual asset service provider.
  • Based in the UAE with hands-on CBUAE and/or VARA experience; exposure to SCA, DFSA (DIFC), or FSRA (ADGM) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of VARA rulebooks, UAE AML/CFT law, goAML, targeted financial sanctions, PDPL, and FATCA/CRS.
  • Investigation experience spanning AML, fraud, and sanctions cases.
  • Exposure to UAE digital banking, payments, or fintech, and understanding of conventional banking and virtual assets.
  • Degree in Law, Finance, Criminology, or a related field; CAMS certification or working toward it.
  • Active use of AI tools such as Claude; fluent English.

Bonus qualifications

  • International compliance experience, knowledge of FATF Recommendations or Wolfsberg principles, correspondent banking due diligence, and experience with CBUAE payment or token regulations are bonuses.
  • ICA diploma, ACAMS CCAS certification, and spoken and written Arabic are bonuses.

Workplace

  • The company describes vibrant offices in Lisbon, Dubai, Kyiv, and Lviv and openness to remote work for the right fit.
  • A home office stipend and hardware are mentioned.

Benefits

  • 24 days of annual leave, paid sick leave, public holidays, and two consecutive four-day work weeks annually after the first year.
  • Learning budget and an accelerated path toward executive-level leadership are described.
