Commis Chef - Japanese Restaurant

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura, and hot kitchen items as assigned
• Follow standard recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines
• Prepare mise en place efficiently to support daily kitchen operations
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work station at all times
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items in line with HACCP standards
• Assist senior chefs during service to ensure timely and consistent food output
• Minimize food wastage and report spoilage or shortages to senior kitchen staff
• Comply with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations at all times
• Adhere to company policies, grooming standards, and kitchen SOPs

& Qualifications

• Basic culinary education or training preferred
• Previous experience in a Japanese restaurant or Asian kitchen is an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Physically fit to stand for long hours
