Bakery Assistant supports the bakery chef in preparing breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other bakery products.
The role supports daily production while maintaining quality, consistency, food safety, and a clean, organized bakery area.
Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production requirements.
- Assist with mixing, kneading, proofing, baking, and decorating bakery items.
- Maintain consistency in product quality, taste, texture, and presentation.
- Store, label, and rotate ingredients using FIFO procedures.
- Maintain hygiene in the bakery area, equipment, and utensils; follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
- Monitor ingredient and supply stock and report shortages.
- Support daily production deadlines and follow instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Pastry Chef.
- Handle and store products properly to maintain freshness and quality; prepare the workstation and organize ingredients and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous bakery or pastry-kitchen experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and bakery ingredients.
- Ability to follow recipes and standard operating procedures.
- Teamwork, communication, time management, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and support daily production and shifts when needed.
