The CMDB Engineer maintains CMDB accuracy, completeness, and stewardship with Observability and service owners.
Experience and certifications
- Requires at least 5 years of overall configuration or data-management experience, including at least 4 years with ServiceNow.
- Current ServiceNow CSA and ITIL 4 Foundation certifications are mandatory; credentials and applicable maintenance status will be validated.
- CIS-Discovery, Service Mapping, or relevant CMDB/CSDM learning credentials are desirable.
Required skills
- Maintain CI classes and relationships, imports and transform maps, and troubleshoot IRE and reconciliation.
- Apply CSDM concepts, ownership attestation, lifecycle controls, and traceable data remediation.
- Produce CMDB health reporting and distinguish source defects from stewardship gaps.
Key responsibilities
- Govern CI lifecycle, ownership, and relationships; investigate duplicates and stale records and coordinate source-owner remediation.
- Maintain approved IRE and source-precedence rules rather than redesigning the platform model.
- Produce ITSM and control evidence and escalate model or security decisions to Digital Workplace.
Deliverables
Provide stewardship and lifecycle procedures, a source-owner register, reconciliation controls, a quality baseline, and a remediation backlog.
Maintain agreed-scope relationships and service links; provide attestation, exception, and control-ready remediation evidence.
Hand over data dictionaries and BAU runbooks, deliver internal training, and establish clear stewardship accountability.
