Cloud Solutions Architect (AWS)

Role Overview

Migration Oversight

• Lead and oversee cloud migration activities across projects, tracking technical progress against scope, plan and project objectives.
• Review migration assessments, wave plans and the migration approach chosen for each workload (rehost, replatform, refactor and the other 7 Rs).
• Review cutover, rollback and hypercare plans before each migration wave and confirm technical readiness for go-live.
• Monitor technical risks and issues during execution and agree mitigation actions with delivery teams.

Design and Deliverable Review

• Review and approve solution designs (HLDs and LLDs), architecture diagrams and technical standards produced by delivery teams.
• Review project deliverables such as landing zone designs, migration runbooks, test plans, operational handover documents and as-built documentation.
• Define review checklists, acceptance criteria and quality gates for technical deliverables and track findings through to closure.
• Check that designs follow the AWS Well-Architected Framework across security, reliability, performance, cost and operations.
• Confirm that security and regulatory controls are covered in designs and evidenced in deliverables.

Technical Guidance

• Provide architectural guidance and AWS best practices to delivery teams throughout the migration and transformation lifecycle.
• Advise on account structure and landing zone, network and hybrid connectivity, identity, backup and disaster recovery, and tooling.
• Coach engineers and solution leads through design reviews and share lessons learned and reusable patterns across projects.

Stakeholder and Vendor Collaboration

• Work with project teams, client stakeholders, AWS and third-party vendors to resolve technical challenges and blockers.
• Represent the technical position in steering and status meetings and explain design trade-offs and risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as the escalation point for technical disagreements and decisions on supervised projects.

Technical Governance

• Support technical governance, design reviews and decision-making across cloud projects, keeping a record of key decisions and rationale.
• Contribute to the practice's review templates, standards and reference architectures.
• Support pre-sales when needed with solution reviews and technical input to proposals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure or IT consulting, with at least 4 years on AWS.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
• Experience overseeing or leading the technical delivery of enterprise migrations to AWS.
• Proven experience reviewing and approving solution designs and technical deliverables.
• Broad knowledge of AWS services across compute, storage, databases, networking, identity and security.
• Good understanding of migration methods and tooling and of landing zone concepts.
• Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices sufficient to review delivery teams' work.
• Experience managing technical risks and working with vendors and client stakeholders.
• Strong written and spoken English and the ability to write clear, actionable review feedback.
• Arabic language skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Specialty certifications (Security, Advanced Networking) or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
• Knowledge of Saudi regulatory frameworks (NCA ECC/CCC, SAMA CSF, PDPL).
• Experience reviewing disaster recovery and business continuity designs.
• Familiarity with core infrastructure services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, ADFS) and enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server, SAP on AWS).
• Multi-cloud exposure (Google Cloud, Azure).
• Consulting experience with government, banking, energy or telecom clients in KSA or the GCC.
