About the role:

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) sets and executes the organization’s technology and information strategy to enable business objectives, ensure secure and reliable IT operations, and drive digital transformation.

Key responsibilities:

• Technology strategy: Define and align IT strategy with business goals, including cloud, infrastructure, data, and application roadmaps.
• IT operations & reliability: Oversee infrastructure, networks, data centers, cloud services, endpoint management, and IT service management (ITSM) to ensure uptime, performance, and cost-efficiency.
• Security & risk management: Partner with security teams (or own security function) to implement information security, identity & access management, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC).
• Data & analytics: Enable enterprise data strategy, governance, data engineering, BI, and analytics to turn data into actionable insights and measurable value.
• Architecture & integration: Design scalable, maintainable enterprise architecture and integration patterns (APIs, middleware) to support product and business needs.
• Application portfolio & development: Manage SaaS and custom application portfolios, software development lifecycle (Agile/DevOps), vendor selection, and technical debt reduction.
• Cloud & platform modernization: Lead cloud migration, cost optimization, platform engineering, and containerization/CI-CD initiatives.
• IT governance & policies: Establish IT policies, standards, procurement processes, SLAs, and governance frameworks that balance agility and control.
• Vendor & contract management: Negotiate and manage relationships with strategic vendors, MSPs, cloud providers, and service integrators.
• Budgeting & financial management: Own IT budget, forecast technology spend, and drive ROI on technology investments.
• Talent & organization: Build and lead engineering/IT teams, set org structure, hire senior technical leaders, and develop technical capability and culture.
• Digital transformation & innovation: Sponsor initiatives that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and new business models through technology.
• Cross-functional leadership: Collaborate with CEO/COO/CFO/Product/Legal to align technology with product roadmaps, risk tolerances, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 10+ years in IT/technology leadership; 5+ years in senior executive roles (VP/Head/CIO) preferred. Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale IT transformation.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP, TOGAF) preferred.
• Skills: Strategic IT planning, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, vendor negotiation, financial management, and strong stakeholder communication.
• Technical knowledge: Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP), networking, identity systems, data platforms, observability, DevOps, SRE practices, and modern application stacks.
• Leadership traits: Results-driven, pragmatic, collaborative, risk-aware, and experienced in scaling teams and managing change.

Pay: QAR393.14 - QAR1,329.11 per hour
