About the Role
Our client, a leading multinational manufacturing organization with a strong international presence, is seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its financial strategy, governance, and business performance across the African region.
This is a high-impact executive leadership role requiring a commercially astute finance professional with outstanding leadership capabilities, strategic vision, and the ability to drive sustainable growth in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
The CFO will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and act as a prominent ambassador of the organization, representing the company with investors, financial institutions, regulators, business partners, and other key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the organization’s future growth agenda while ensuring strong financial stewardship, operational excellence, and governance standards across the region.
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute the overall financial strategy aligned with the organization's long-term business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team on financial and commercial matters.
- Drive business transformation initiatives, growth strategies, profitability enhancement, and value creation opportunities.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support key business decisions and investment priorities.
Financial Planning & Performance Management
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Establish robust financial reporting frameworks and performance metrics across multiple business units and markets.
- Ensure optimal working capital management and efficient capital allocation.
Corporate Finance & Treasury
- Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, banking relationships, and capital structure optimization.
- Lead funding initiatives and financing negotiations with banks, financial institutions, and investors.
- Evaluate and execute investment opportunities that support business growth and expansion.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Business Expansion
- Identify, evaluate, and support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnership opportunities.
- Lead financial due diligence, valuation exercises, negotiations, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance tracking.
- Support regional expansion projects and new market entry strategies.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and international financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Strengthen internal controls, corporate governance frameworks, and risk management processes.
- Lead enterprise risk management initiatives and ensure financial integrity across all operations.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide inspirational leadership to regional finance teams and develop high-performing finance talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a senior representative and ambassador of the organization in engagements with investors, government authorities, auditors, regulators, financial institutions, and key business partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across multiple countries.
Operational Excellence
- Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, and HR leadership teams to drive operational efficiencies and profitability.
- Support productivity enhancement initiatives, cost optimization programs, and business process improvements.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making and financial analytics to improve business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent is mandatory.
- MBA or Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be highly advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience within large manufacturing, industrial, FMCG, engineering, or multinational environments.
- Proven experience in a CFO, Finance Director, Regional Finance Director, or equivalent executive leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex, multi-country financial operations.
- Prior overseas senior leadership experience of 3–5 years or more will be a significant advantage.
- Exposure to African markets and emerging economies is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience in mergers, acquisitions, business integrations, or strategic investments will be a strong advantage.
